Loriann Signori

American light painter, Loriann Signori, received her BFA from Swain School or Design and MFA, under full fellowship, at American University. While her preferred mediums have always been oil or pastel, her methods, techniques, and aesthetic aims have all undergone significant transformations since she first began. Her paintings, situated between abstraction and recognizable form, are explorations into the color of air , light and beauty.

Signori's paintings have been exhibited throughout the United States and have been included an invitational exhibition in Russia. As a workshop instructor, she has taught in Italy and across the USA. She is an IAPS (International Association of Pastel Societies) Eminent Pastelist, signature member of PSA and a member of several pastel societies. Her work has been featured in art publications including Pastel Journal, Plein Air Magazine, Pratique des Arts and Home and Design.

Signori currently lives and works in Silver Spring MD.

My statement:

I am a painter of luminosity.

One of the principals, the agents from reality I chose to paint- is light.   The cosmos is made of light and represented only thru light. The universe becomes an opalescent poster of colors, reflections and fleeting visions. Built of mysterious electrons- air is fused with color and energy. It is the essence we breathe and the driver for my work.
